Road Rules and Cycling Etiquette

The following rules are designed to ensure the safety of all riders and those around them:

  • All riders undertake to obey the road rules as a condition of entry
  • Riders under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their entry form
  • Riders must follow all directions given by Police or Ride officials
  • The ride is over fully sealed public roads and the route will be signed and manned by marshals to help riders stay on course
  • General traffic including Cars and trucks will be using the roads in both directions at the same time as us during the day so exercise caution at all times
  • Always correctly wear your approved helmet Your (helmet must meet Australian Standards)
  • Wear clothing that increases your visibility to other road users
  • Don't ride more than two abreast
  • Don't pass on the left of a cyclist
  • Always call 'passing' when you are overtaking a fellow cyclist
  • Always signal and call when you are stopping and move to the left hand side of the road
  • Eat and drink regularly - your body needs constant fuel
  • All bikes must be mechanically sound and roadworthy
  • No Trailers or children’s seats are allowed on the ride
  • Support vehicles will be available if assistance is required. They will carry extra water

Riding 90km or 70km is a very strenuous undertaking. All riders are responsible to ensure they have prepared with suitable training rides to ensure they can complete the ride without harm or risk to their health
